Burway is a friendly competitive rowing club situated on the Thames between Laleham & Chertsey We welcome all new members from total beginners to experienced masters

Learn to row


Learn to row and scull on a fabulous stretch of the Thames. Courses are available for both juniors and seniors.

As you know conditions didn’t improve and we had to abandon the head. Full refund will be made

Burway head: hoping the conditions improve. Water levels have dropped but the forecast is not good so holding off a decision at the moment

Boat naming ceremony was delighted to have the Mayor of Spelthorne christen both “The Laleham”, our new touring, explore rowing, recreational boat and “Geoffrey”, our classic, restored training pair. Many years of usage and fun to be had in both boats

Burway holds onto the Boxing Day VIIIs race against Staines but the inaugural touring boat challenge was won by Staines and a great albeit blustery day was had by all

Fantastic group of competitors at the Burway Head. Thank you to all who supported the event

Burway’s AGM elected to continue with the team that has seen the club grow from strength to strength over recent years

Burway has taken delivery of a brand new BBG touring gig 4+/4x+ and looks forward to welcoming new members to explore rowing in a fabulous craft


The River Ouse provided a splendid setting for their 22km race. Rob led the field from Burway


Many thanks to Maj-Britt who very generously donated a multi gym, which has now been set up in the training bay and ready fro some serious use over the coming winter training


Many thanks to Ruth, Anne and Geoff for their sterling efforts in turning mustard into money at a recent car boot sale

Our own success was led by

Danny and Henry who won J14 2X; Katie won WJ14 1X- Daisy won WJ17 1X and

George who won J18 1X

In addition: Sam, Ben, Tom & Freddie in IMS 4-.
