How to Join
Total beginners
Even if you’ve never rowed before, you’re welcome to learn at Burway. We have a lot of ‘novices’ and are happy to teach you. Please email us and we’ll arrange a time for you to come to the club. For complete beginners, this is usually at 10am on a Sunday. We’ll then arrange for you to go out on the water in one of our teaching boats, which are wider and more stable than racing boats, and we’ll teach you some of the fundamentals of rowing. If you enjoy the experience and want to learn more, we’ll ask you to become a temporary member of the Club. This will cost £40 and entitles you to 6 weeks membership while you learn more about the sport. If you want to continue at the end of the 6 weeks we’ll ask you for the remainder of your first year’s membership.
Experienced Rowers
We’ve got crews competing at most levels, both junior and senior, and you’re welcome to join them. Please email us and arrange a time to come to the club. If you just want to row socially we also have both men’s and women’s groups who row on Sundays throughout the year and also some weekdays during the summer. Initially we ask you to become a temporary member for £40. This gives you 6 weeks to decide whether you like rowing at Burway before we ask you to pay a full subscription.
